Lions And MABVI

Concord Lions and MABVI

The Concord Lions were thrilled to once again welcome David Brown from the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (MABVI) at our March dinner meeting, held (after a storm postponement) on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. Last year, the Lions partnered with MABVI in their Team with A Vision program at the Boston Marathon.

Mr. Brown brought MABVI Director Sassy Outwater-Wright and her guide dog, Ferdinand, to the meeting. Ms. Outwater-Wright, spoke about her personal experience living with blindness and her continuing fight to provide access to technology to the visually impaired. The Club was interested to hear that Ms. Outwater-Wright received a computer with voice technology in elementary school through a grant from her local Lions Club – and that computer opened up new opportunities for her, allowing her to follow her interests to a career science.

The Lions look forward to a continued partnership with MABVI – to working together to end preventable blindness and improve the lives of those who are visually impaired.
