The Concord Lions are overwhelmingly grateful by our neighbors’ show of support during our Toys for Toys Toy Drive, held on Sunday, November 18th, at the home of our King Lion, Dan Reilly. 419 toys were donated during the event and additional toys were found on Dan’s doorstep the next morning! Additionally, guests gave very generously to the Lions Club; all of those fund will directly support Lions Club charities.

Guests at the event enjoyed tastings of a fine selection of wines (Lion Dan was a great sommelier) and a never-ending array of amazingly delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared and served by Mark Valentine Catering.

During this Veterans Day week, it was so appropriate to have Marine Staff Sergeant John Tipton join us, representing the Marine’s Toys for Tots program. He gave brief, very informative talk about the program; did you know that although the program is nation-wide, all of the toys collected go to needy children in our surrounding communities? And Ssgt Tipton was a great sport, joining in with the children’s entertainment provided by the fabulous magician, Stephanie Beach ( The show was enjoyed by guests of all ages!

Thank you to the CCHS High School and Carlisle Middle School students who helped with the event. Their work counting and bagging the toys for delivery to Toys for Tots was invaluable!

And a huge thank you to Dan and his wife Sally for organizing this event and opening up their home to the Lions, friend, and neighbors.

We are already looking forward to next year’s event.
